Grief and Loss Counseling
Compassionate support through loss and bereavement
What Is Grief and Loss Counseling?
The goal: carry the loss, not get over it. Grief counseling is not about returning to who you were before. It is about building a life that has room for both the loss and the living — where the relationship you lost keeps a place, and the days become bearable again.
The idea: grief is not only about death. The end of a marriage, a faith transition, a diagnosis, infertility, estrangement, or the loss of a future you had planned all produce real grief — and often go unacknowledged, which makes them heavier to carry.
The method: witness first, then meaning. Early sessions are largely about having the loss taken seriously by someone who will not rush you. From there the work turns to the practical and the meaningful: managing the waves, handling anniversaries, and finding ways to honour what you lost.

How Perspective Counseling Services Delivers Grief Support
Individual counseling with grief-trained clinicians. Several of our therapists hold specific grief and loss training and work regularly with bereavement, faith transitions, and the losses that come with major life change.
An eight-week grief group, open to the community. We run a closed eight-week grief therapy series at our Millcreek office, Thursdays from 5:30 to 6:30 PM, for anyone navigating loss — you do not need to be a current client or have a referral. Details and current pricing are on our services page.

Key Benefits of Grief Counseling

-
Permission to grieve at your own pace. No timeline, and no expectation that you should be further along than you are.
-
Somewhere the loss is fully acknowledged. Especially valuable for disenfranchised grief that friends and family may not recognise as loss.
-
Practical help for the hard days. Anniversaries, holidays, and unexpected triggers become something you have a plan for.
-
A continuing bond, not a severed one. The work makes room to stay connected to what you lost rather than being asked to let it go.
-
The option of shared company. Group work puts you among people who understand without needing it explained.
