Medication Management (Nurse Practitioner)

Diagnosis, medication management, and therapy from one provider

WHAT IT IS

What Is Medication Management?

The goal: accurate diagnosis and medication that actually fits. Psychiatric nurse practitioners are advanced-practice providers who diagnose psychiatric conditions and prescribe and manage medication. The goal is a regimen matched to your particular presentation, adjusted over time based on how you actually respond.

The idea: one provider for both sides of your care. Unlike a medication-only prescriber, our nurse practitioners also provide talk therapy and psychoeducation. That means the person adjusting your prescription is the same person who knows what your week has been like.

The method: comprehensive assessment, then ongoing adjustment. Care begins with a thorough evaluation covering symptoms, history, physical health, sleep, and life circumstances. Follow-up appointments track response and side effects and refine the plan — medication management is a process, not a single prescription.

OUR APPROACH

How Perspective Counseling Services Delivers This Care

Two board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioners. Our prescribers see children, adolescents, and adults for anxiety, depression, ADHD, OCD, trauma-related disorders, bipolar disorder, and other complex concerns. One focuses on children, teens, and family-centred neurodevelopmental support; the other holds advanced training in perinatal mental health.

In the same practice as your therapist. Because prescribing and therapy sit under one roof, your providers can coordinate directly rather than passing messages between offices. Psychiatric care is based at our Millcreek office, with telehealth available statewide.

WHY IT HELPS

Key Benefits of Nurse Practitioner Medication Management

Calm clinical office with natural light
  • No coordinating between two offices. Medication management and supportive therapy come from the same provider, inside the same practice as your therapist.

  • Care across the lifespan. Children, adolescents, and adults are all seen here, including family-centred support for neurodevelopmental concerns.

  • A whole-person assessment. Sleep, physical health, stress, and life circumstances are treated as part of the picture, not background noise.

  • You will understand your own treatment. Psychoeducation is built into appointments, so you can make informed decisions about your medication.

  • Telehealth statewide. Follow-up medication appointments can be held by telehealth from anywhere in Utah.
