Depression and Anxiety Therapy

Evidence-based relief from depression and anxiety

WHAT IT IS

What Is Depression and Anxiety Therapy?

The goal: relief now, and resilience after. This work has two horizons. The near one is symptom relief — sleeping, eating, functioning, and getting through the day. The further one is understanding what produced the episode so that the next stressor does not land the same way.

The idea: depression and anxiety usually travel together. Many people experience both at once, and they feed each other: anxiety exhausts you into withdrawal, and withdrawal deepens depression. Treating them as a single interlocking picture works better than treating either alone.

The method: behavior first, then meaning. Early sessions often focus on the concrete — sleep, movement, re-engaging with activities that used to matter — because behavioral change frequently shifts mood before insight does. From there the work moves to the beliefs, losses, and patterns underneath.

OUR APPROACH

How Perspective Counseling Services Delivers This Care

Therapy and medication under one roof. If your symptoms would benefit from medication, our psychiatric nurse practitioners can assess, prescribe, and manage it while you continue therapy here — so the two sides of your care are not split across separate offices.

Matched to your situation, not a protocol. Postpartum depression, grief-related depression, faith-transition distress, and burnout each call for different work. We match you with a clinician whose focus areas fit, across our Millcreek and Farmington offices and by telehealth statewide.

WHY IT HELPS

Key Benefits of Depression and Anxiety Therapy

Sunrise breaking over a valley
  • The basics come back first. Sleep, appetite, and energy are usually the earliest things to shift, and they make everything else more possible.

  • Coordinated medication when it is warranted. Our prescribers and therapists work in the same practice, so nothing gets lost between providers.

  • An explanation that fits your life. You come away understanding what set this off, which makes recurrence less frightening and more manageable.

  • Re-engagement with what you value. Therapy rebuilds contact with the relationships and activities depression pulled you away from.

  • A plan for next time. You will know your own early warning signs and what to do when you notice them.
