Get to Know Jackie
A welcoming, nonjudgmental space. Jackie Terry’s counseling approach is grounded in empathy, active listening, and a deep belief in each person’s resilience. She strives to create a welcoming, nonjudgmental environment where clients feel safe to explore their experiences and move toward the life they want to build. She views therapy as a collaborative space where clients are honored as the experts of their own stories and supported in making meaning of life’s challenges and transitions.
Warmth, humor, and curiosity. Jackie’s own life experiences have shaped her understanding of growth, adversity, and healing, and she values the insight they bring to her work. She brings warmth, humor, curiosity, and respect to every session and looks forward to partnering with clients as they navigate growth, healing, and self-discovery.
A nontraditional path to social work. Jackie is a Master of Social Work intern who returned to school in 2024 as a nontraditional student, driven by her commitment to helping individuals create meaningful and lasting change in their lives. She is known for her genuine care, steady presence, and deep compassion for the people she serves.
Training and approach. Jackie uses an approach that blends CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), ACT (Acceptance & Commitment Therapy), DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy), MI (Motivational Interviewing), and principles from Internal Family Systems (IFS).
Schools and aging adults. Before beginning her internship, Jackie spent time as a School Social Worker in the Davis School District where she gained an appreciation for supporting young people. She also has several years of experience working with and advocating for the aging population.
