My journey into psychiatric mental health nursing is rooted in both professional dedication and deeply personal experience. Throughout my nursing career, I have been drawn to individuals and families navigating mental health challenges—especially those who have felt misunderstood, overwhelmed, or unsure of where to turn for help.
I earned my Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Boise State University and my Master of Science in Nursing as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner from Purdue Global University. My path to becoming a PMHNP reflects my commitment to providing thoughtful, evidence-based care while helping patients and families feel genuinely heard, understood, and supported.
As a mother of four, I understand that mental health and neurodevelopmental challenges affect the entire family. I have personally walked alongside my children through autism, ADHD, anxiety, and depression. Through those experiences, I learned how difficult it can be for families to find clear answers, practical resources, compassionate providers, and a community that truly understands what they are going through.
Those experiences have become the heart of my work. I strive to provide the kind of support, education, understanding, and guidance I wish had been more readily available to my own family. I know the relief that comes when a parent finally feels heard, when a child realizes they are not broken, and when a family begins to understand that challenges can be approached with compassion rather than shame. My goal is not only to treat symptoms, but also to help families better understand one another, recognize their strengths, and feel less alone.
I also have many people I love within the LGBTQ+ community, which has strengthened my commitment to creating a welcoming, inclusive, and affirming space for every patient and family. I believe each person deserves care that honors their identity, experiences, values, and individual needs.
My practice focuses primarily on children, adolescents, and families. I use a collaborative, family-centered approach that may include comprehensive assessment, medication management, therapeutic support, education, and practical strategies for everyday life. I recognize that no two children or families are the same, and I work closely with patients and caregivers to develop treatment plans that feel realistic, respectful, and individualized.
By combining my clinical training with the perspective of a mother who has navigated these challenges within my own home, I bring both knowledge and heartfelt understanding to my work. My mission is to help children and families find greater peace, connection, resilience, and hope—while ensuring they receive the support, resources, and understanding my own family once needed.
